Laura Harrison

Director of Neuroscience

Laura joined Valor in 2022 as Director of Neuroscience in the Office of the CEO.

Prior to joining Valor, Laura served as Chief Science Officer at psyML. Led by the scientific founder of eHarmony, psyML applies psychology to business solutions at scale, specializing in natural language processing-based personality and emotion recognition application programing interfaces.

Before pivoting to business, Laura spent over a decade in academia. As a research scientist, she trained at California Institute of Technology then the University of Southern California, investigating how our brains enable social and emotional experiences to guide decisions and behaviors. Her research has sought to understand these processes in a “real world” context, in both health and disease. Laura’s research has resulted in numerous publications and international conference presentations.

Dr. Harrison earned a Ph.D. in Computation and Neural Systems at the California Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Neuroscience and Humanities at Scripps College.
