Bruce Johns
Senior Director
Bruce serves as a Senior Director on the Scale Group Team. His responsibilities include providing project management, technical consulting, and support for operational improvement projects at Valor portfolio companies.
Bruce has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing operations, quality systems, and project management. Prior to joining Valor in 2006, Bruce operated a private consulting business and frequently provided consulting services to Valor portfolio companies. Bruce specializes in quality systems implementation (having completed numerous ISO and QS 9000 registrations), lean improvements, visual operating systems, multimedia development, and employee training processes.
Prior to private consulting, Bruce fulfilled positions as Director of Quality and Special Projects Consultant for Connector Service Corporation, where he was responsible for quality and process improvements in plants in the United States, Mexico, and Ireland. He has performed consulting and process improvement in the industries of stamping, molding, plating, assembly, tool design & build, printing, powder / electro-coating, cordage, signage, dental, and home health care. Prior to joining industry, Bruce was a staff member of the Waubonsee Community College Transportation Technology Department where he served as an instructor of automotive and motorcycle service technology.
During his tenure, Bruce co-authored a textbook published by the Goodheart-Willcox Company. The text is currently in its third revision. Bruce was formerly a Crew Chief in a jet fighter squadron of the United States Air Force where he maintained and repaired jet fighters during one tour of duty in Thailand and two tours of duty in Vietnam. During his military career, he completed technical schools with top honors and achieved numerous certifications. Bruce’s military service culminated in the Strategic Air Command, where he maintained the Lockheed U2 aircraft.
Bruce holds an Associate of Arts degree from Elgin Community College and has completed additional course study at National Louis University, Eastern Michigan University, and Northern Illinois University.
